Quince is a small tree or shrub of the rose family grown for its edible fruit which is a golden yellow pome and is usually pear-shaped. It is a great source of dietary fibre, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. The fruit contains tannins and has a very high concentration of vitamin C and is a good source of calcium, iron, potassium, magnesium and copper. The jam is a delicious alternative to traditional jams with a unique flavour, which may be added to toast, crumpets, muffins for breakfast or at teatime or yogurt as a light desert.
