As this is a high-carbon polished steel product, it is susceptible to oxidation (rust) if not maintained correctly:
First Use: Thoroughly wash the pan to remove the protective layer of industrial oil applied by the manufacturer.
Seasoning: It is recommended to season the pan with a light layer of food-grade oil after the initial cleaning.
Daily Maintenance: After each use, hand-wash and dry the pan immediately and thoroughly. Do not allow to air-dry.
Protective Storage: Apply a thin layer of vegetable oil to the entire surface (interior and exterior) before storing in a dry location.
Rust Removal: If oxidation occurs, it can be removed with a mild abrasive scourer, followed by immediate cleaning and re-oiling.
